Why need measure switch rail?
The switch rail is an important part of the turnout. It is the turning motion of the switch rail to realign the train in the direction of the main line 0 side line. With the continuous development of railway transportation in the direction of high-speed and heavy-duty, wear and scrap, especially the severity of the lateral wear of the switch rail, the wear condition of the switch rail should be measured frequently, and the maintenance suggestion of the switch rail should be polished or replaced. The switch Lateral Wear Gauge apply to measure the switch rail lateral wear and the descent height value of the switch rail ,this device can be used for all types of switch.
How to Measure the switch rail lateral wear with our gauge
a. Find a section of new steel rail to attach the base to the bottom surface of the rail, so that both sides of the base are in contact with the bottom surface of the rail, slide the vertical ruler up and down to make the bottom surface of the Lateral ruler contact the top surface of the rail, press the "Zero" button to clear the data,move down 16mm to confirm the measuring height, tighten the locking screw on the vertical ruler frame.
b. Find a new section of Switch rail, confirm the first point to be measured, and attach the base to the bottom surface of the rail so that both sides of the base are in contact with the rail. Slide the lateral ruler to make the ruler contact the tip rail, and press the "zero" key to clear the data.
c. Use above method to measure other points to be measured on the new rail, and record the data of the digital caliper.
d. Use the same method to measure the wear data of each measuring point of the switch rail to be tested, compare it with the measuring date of the new switch rail, we will get the lateral wear measuring value of the switch rail.
